Minimally aggressive – laparoscopic surgery

Laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery implies a form of a modern surgery wherewith a surgical intervention in the abdominal cavity is performed through small seams of the anterior abdominal wall, contrary to classical abdominal surgery, which is performed through long frontal abdominal cuts, with a length of 10 to 30 centimeters. The abdominal organs are accessed by special instruments through small abdominal wall cuts, with a length of 5-10 mm, at several spots. The camera that displays the ongoing operation is inserted through one opening, while the other two openings (sometimes more than two) are used for inserting the instruments that are required to carry out the surgery.
