Professor Dr. Elena Djikova has published more than 160 papers, as the main author or a coauthor in several domestic and international journals, books, monographies, congress publications, poster and oral presentations in the country and abroad, as well as parts of 1 monography in the country and 1 monography published abroad. She participated in several national and international projects. She had been invited to give lectures in the country and abroad. The most important lecture was the lecture on the World Congress of the International Gynecology and Obstetrics Federation (FIGO, 2018) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2018. She advanced her scientific research with the preparation of her doctoral thesis entitled: “Noninvasive Methods for Prenatal Determination of Fetal Maturity”. During this period, she actively participated in many European, international and world conferences, congresses, workshops, meetings, including: advanced courses in fetal medicine organized by Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) in London, several professional development visits to the King’s College Hospital, in the Harris Birthright research center for fetal medicine in London with professor Kypros Nicolaides, one of the world leaders in modern fetal medicine, prenatal diagnostics, and intrauterine fetal therapy.
Courses for fetal diagnostics, screening of anomalies and diagnostics, prevention and treatment of high risk conditions during pregnancy, also with professor Kypros Nicolaides in London, on-line courses in the field of perinatology organized by FMF and professor Dr. Kypros Nicolaides, Ian Donald advanced schools of ultrasound, participant in the Safe Motherhood Training course organized by the Swiss International Health Center and the CRED Foundation;
Participated in the adequate perinatal care planning training course organized by the Swiss International Health Center and the CRED Foundation; participated in an OMI visiting professorship in OBG on the Open Medical Institute and the Medical University in Vienna, on two different occasions; completed the education course of ESGO and passed the examination on topic “Cervical cancer – considering new diagnostic and treatment approaches”; completed the basic and the advanced course for colposcopy organized by the European Colposcopy Federation;

She is a member of and has actively participated in the National committee for safe motherhood and reduction of fetal and mother morbidity and mortality for several years. She participated and lectures in more than 40 schools, workshops, symposia, and many other conferences and professional meetings in the country and abroad, as well as many other scientific and research activities in the area of gynecology and obstetrics, especially perinatology, organized by the WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, Ministry of Health and other national and international organizations.
In 2020 she became a subspecialist in the area of perinatology on the Medical Faculty, University “St. Cyril and Methodoius”, Skopje, RN Macedonia.
She participated in several national and international projects in the area of gynecology and obstetrics (examination of combinations between KIR molecules of the mother and HLA molecules of the fetus in problematic pregnancies);

Participant in the national project “Safe Innovative Health Services during Covid-19”, mobile gynecology outpatient facilities, lectures to secondary school students about sexually transmitted infections, supported UNFPA;
Participant in the “Effective Perinatal Care” program, 2022, implemented by MDA, sported by UNFPA member of the working group of analysis and auditing of perinatal mortality in RN Macedonia, participant in the project “Clinical Presentation and Outcomes of Covid 19 in pregnant women and newborns”, participant in the preparation of the Perinatal mortality Audit for 2019 and 2020.
She managed Section A of the Pathological Pregnancy and High-Risk Pregnancy department since 2017. Today she is part of the fetal medicine unit opened in cooperation with professor Kypros Nicolaides and the fetal medicine foundation and the Hellenic Republic at the University Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics and successfully performs ultrasound supervisions of fetal anomalies and genetic syndromes, as well as high-risk perinatology conditions using an ultra-modern 4D ultrasound apparatus equipped with all of the modern features for fetal ultrasonography, as well as algorithms introduced by FMM and the world fetal and perinatal medicine trends.
She is a mentor of residents, subspecializtion candidates and doctoral candidates in the area of perinatology and fetal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics.
In addition, she actively performs health examinations in the subspecialist outpatient facility for gynecological oncology where she performs diagnostics and monitoring of onco-gynecological patients.
She has held many international lectures in the area of ultrasonography, especially the advanced 3D/4D ultrasonography and high-risk conditions in pregnancy, screening, and anomalies, genetic sonograms, invasive and noninvasive techniques for detecting chromosome abnormalities, artificial intelligence in modern ultrasonography in fetal medicine and in gynecology, using NIPT tests for early detection of chromosomal anomalies of the fetus, as well as malignant condition of pregnant patients, impact of oncogenic viruses such as the high-risk HPV during pregnancy etc.
She has published several reviews of papers with impact factors, printed by the prestigious Wiley and the European Journal for Surgical Oncology.
She is a regular reviewer of the Medical Review, Public Health Archives, etc. She is the author and technical editor of the university textbook of gynecology and obstetrics for general medicine students, 990 pages, published in 2024, ISBN 978-608-5028-08-5.
Professor Dr. Elena Djikova is a general secretary and an active member of the Macedonian association of gynecology and obstetrics, vice president and an active member of the Macedonian association of fetal medicine, active member and a member of the management board of the Macedonian association for endometriosis, active member of the Macedonian Doctors’ Association, member of the European Association for Gynecological Oncology in 2012, member of SEEMF and many other associations.
