Otorhinolaryngology

Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ear, nose, and throat.

Department Overview

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology provides diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ear, nose, and throat.

The department treats conditions related to hearing, breathing, and voice, using modern equipment and an individualized approach for every patient.

Diseases and Conditions

The department diagnoses and treats:

  • Diseases of the nose and sinuses
    sinusitis, rhinitis, and nasal polyps
  • Deviated nasal septum
    impaired nasal breathing
  • Allergic conditions
    allergic and non-allergic rhinitis
  • Ear diseases
    infections, hearing loss, and tinnitus
  • Middle ear diseases
    perforation and cholesteatoma
  • Vestibular disorders
    dizziness and impaired balance
  • Diseases of the throat and voice
    inflammation and dysphonia
  • Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea
    breathing disorders during sleep
  • Tumorous and precancerous changes
conditions affecting the larynx and throat

Diagnostics

The department uses modern diagnostic methods for accurate assessment of diseases of the ear, nose, sinuses, throat, and vocal cords.

A detailed clinical assessment of the ear, nose, and throat, including medical history, evaluation of symptoms, and physical examination. It is used to diagnose inflammation, pain, hearing problems, nasal obstruction, voice changes, and breathing difficulties.

Examination with a thin endoscope that allows detailed visualization of the nasal cavity, nasal septum, sinus openings, and nasopharynx. This method is used in chronic sinusitis, polyps, deviated septum, nosebleeds, and other conditions.

Examination of the external and middle ear using an otoscope and operating microscope. It enables detection of inflammation, eardrum perforation, fluid accumulation, chronic infections, and other abnormalities.

Hearing assessment used to determine the type and degree of hearing loss. It is performed in patients with reduced hearing, tinnitus, or suspected hearing disorders.

Assessment of middle ear function and eardrum mobility, especially in patients with inflammation, fluid in the middle ear, or hearing impairment.

Evaluation of allergic factors in patients with chronic nasal obstruction, sneezing, itching, allergic rhinitis, or recurrent sinus infections.

Examination of the larynx and vocal cords in patients with hoarseness, voice changes, cough, sensation of a lump in the throat, or suspected abnormalities of the vocal cords.

Treatments

The department provides both conservative and surgical treatments, adapted according to the patient’s condition:

  • Endoscopic sinus surgery
minimally invasive treatment of chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, and other sinus diseases. It is performed through an endoscopic approach without external incisions, resulting in faster recovery and improved nasal and sinus function.
  • Septoplasty and septorhinoplasty
surgical correction of a deviated nasal septum and nasal structure, in order to improve breathing and, when necessary, the appearance of the nose.
  • Microlaryngoscopy
surgical treatment of the vocal cords and larynx in patients with polyps, nodules, cysts, chronic hoarseness, and other abnormalities. The procedure is performed with high precision while preserving voice function.
  • Tympanoplasty
reconstruction of the eardrum and middle ear in patients with perforation, chronic inflammation, or hearing loss.
  • Hearing improvement surgery
treatment of conditions such as otosclerosis and other disorders that lead to hearing impairment.
  • Mastoidectomy
surgical treatment of chronic infections and diseases of the mastoid bone behind the ear, aimed at preventing complications and preserving hearing.
  • Tonsil and adenoid surgery
treatment of chronic inflammation, recurrent infections, breathing difficulties, snoring, and sleep apnea in children and adults.
  • Radiofrequency treatment
minimally invasive approach for reducing snoring, nasal obstruction, and obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Medication therapy
individually adapted treatment for inflammation, infections, allergies, dizziness, tinnitus, and other ENT conditions.

Technology and Equipment

The department is equipped with modern technology for diagnosis and surgical treatment:

  • Endoscopic systems
high-resolution endoscopes for precise visualization of the nasal cavity, sinuses, nasopharynx, and larynx, both for diagnostics and surgical procedures.
  • ENT microscope
an operating microscope that enables microsurgical procedures on the ear and vocal cords with maximum precision.
  • Audiology units
specialized rooms and equipment for audiometry, tympanometry, and other examinations of hearing and middle ear function.
  • Equipment for minimally invasive surgery
modern instruments for endoscopic surgery of the sinuses, nose, ear, and larynx, allowing lower risk, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery.
  • Radiofrequency equipment
systems for minimally invasive treatment of snoring, sleep apnea, and chronic nasal obstruction.
  • Modern operating theatres
equipped for safe performance of ENT procedures, with continuous monitoring and anesthesiology support.
