Diagnostics and Treatments
The department applies a structured and individualized approach to assess and manage pain, determining its cause, intensity, and impact on quality of life.
Detailed medical history and physical examination to define the type of pain (acute or chronic, neuropathic, inflammatory, or musculoskeletal), its location, intensity, and aggravating/relieving factors. When needed, the assessment is complemented by laboratory and imaging studies.
Individually tailored treatment based on the type and severity of pain, which may include analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opioids, muscle relaxants, neuropathic agents, and adjuvant therapies. Treatment is dynamically adjusted with regular monitoring of effectiveness and potential side effects.
Minimally invasive techniques used in patients with chronic or refractory pain, including nerve blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablation, and other targeted procedures to reduce pain and improve function.
Integrated care involving collaboration between anesthesiologists, neurologists, orthopedic specialists, physiotherapists, and other specialists. This approach combines medication, physical therapy, psychological support, and interventional techniques to achieve long-term pain relief and improved quality of life.
This structured approach targets not only symptom control but also the underlying cause of pain, with a focus on functional recovery.
