Preoperative and Postoperative Care
Continuous medical care for patients who are preparing for surgery or are in the recovery period after an operation.
Department Overview
The Department of Preoperative and Postoperative Care provides continuous medical care for patients who are preparing for surgery or are in the recovery period after an operation.
The department ensures coordination between diagnostic services, the operating block, and intensive care, with the goal of providing a safe treatment process and the best possible outcome for the patient.
Diseases and Conditions
The department cares for patients with:
Preparation for surgical treatment
stabilization and assessment before interventionEarly postoperative period
monitoring and support after surgeryDecompensated internal medicine conditions
cardiac, renal, or metabolic instabilityComplex clinical conditions
need for additional diagnostics and treatment definitionProlonged recovery
patients who require extended care and rehabilitation
Diagnostics and Treatments
The department provides continuous diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment adapted to the condition and needs of each patient, especially in patients before and after surgical interventions, with chronic diseases, or requiring prolonged medical care.
24-hour monitoring of vital signs and general condition, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, urine output, and neurological status. Symptoms, pain, fluid intake, and the patient’s progress during treatment are also continuously assessed.
ECG, portable echocardiography, and additional cardiology examinations when indicated, in patients with heart disease, rhythm disturbances, chest pain, or risk of cardiovascular complications.
Regular monitoring of blood count, inflammatory markers, electrolytes, blood glucose, kidney and liver function, coagulation, and other biochemical parameters. This enables timely detection of changes and adjustment of therapy.
Individually tailored treatment according to the diagnosis and clinical condition of the patient. Therapy is used for stabilization of cardiac, pulmonary, metabolic, or renal conditions, as well as control of pain, infections, blood pressure, and other associated conditions.
Support for patients with dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, anemia, respiratory difficulties, or the need for additional stabilization.
Optimization of the patient’s health condition before surgery, including correction of risk factors, stabilization of chronic diseases, and assessment of readiness for intervention.
Monitoring and support in the early period after surgery, including pain control, wound assessment, monitoring of vital signs, and prevention of complications.
Early mobilization, gradual return to physical activity, and monitoring of the recovery process. The team works to prevent complications associated with prolonged bed rest, such as thrombosis, infections, and reduced mobility.
Technology and Equipment
The department is equipped with modern systems for monitoring, support, and safe patient care:
Advanced monitoring systems
continuous monitoring of heart function, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, body temperature, and other vital parameters, with the possibility of rapid response in case of any change in condition.ECG and portable echocardiography
enable rapid assessment of heart rhythm and heart function directly in the patient’s room, without the need for transport to another department.Oxygen and non-invasive respiratory support
systems for oxygen therapy, masks, high-flow oxygen, and non-invasive ventilation for patients with respiratory difficulties.Infusion and syringe pumps
precise administration of therapy, fluids, and medications according to the patient’s needs.Nurse call system
ensures continuous availability and rapid response of the medical team at all times.Rehabilitation equipment
devices and support aids for early mobilization, movement, and gradual restoration of the patient’s function.Modern hospital rooms
rooms adapted for continuous monitoring, comfort, and patient safety throughout the stay.
